Dancing Community Together!

We are thrilled to announce this month’s danceXchange performers, sponsors, and audience engagement opportunities.  On Tuesday, September 18th Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California and Temecula Presents will bring the local dance community together for an elegant evening of modern dance, improvisation, and action theatre.  The performance begins at 7:00 PM in the outdoor courtyard of Old Town Temecula Community Theater.  Snacks and beverages are sold to complete this informal sunset performance.

danceXchange, was reimagined a couple of months ago (formerly called DanceMoves) and now brings an added element of audience engagement to each performance.  Audience feedback, roundtable discussions, and community experience classes have been highlights in recent months. This month is no different.  Audience members will participate, either from the comfort of  their seats, from cell phone texts, or from the stage (as their comfort zones allow) in creating movement work a la Ruth Zaporah’s Action Theatre and Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints.  The audience participation portions of the evening will be lead by danceXchange director, Lori Craig Torok.

Our special guest artist for the September 18th danceXchange is Fuse Modern Dance Company from Orange, under the direction of Josh Romero.  Romero will be bringing company members to perform unique and interesting work new to the Inland Empire.  To learn more about this dynamic company, go to http://www.fusemoderndance.com.

Local dance groups are encouraged to join us for the evening and to present something they are working on, whether finished, polished, or still in progress.  This is a friendly and encouraging environment in which artist can present, process, and profit!

Local performers share in the profits from the intermission raffle, with donations from local businesses who support Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California and the community development it is promoting.  This month we proudly add RED ROBIN restaurant (www.redrobin.com) to our ever-growing list of community sponsors.  Thank you!

Local dancers scheduled to perform include Nick Schuette, Rachel Nesseth, Val Carnahan, Jeremy Sewell, Alexandra Thomsen-Wolfe, Paige Smith, Krystal Johnson, and Gina Marie.  This will surely be a memorable and unique exchange of dance!

Interested in performing?  Send us an email at dancexchange.temecula@gmail.com, and we’ll get you on the program!  It’s not too late to join us.  The more the dancier!

We dance community together!
