February’s danceXchange will surely be a Valentine to dance, with an eclectic array of world dance and artists who bring their love of dance to the intimate Merc stage at Old Town Temecula Community Theater.
On February 18th, the love affair with dance begins with a free danceXperience class at 6:00pm, lead by Sylvia Youngson. Community members will be given the chance to dance in the classical ballet style. No experience is necessary–those “special” shoes aren’t even necessary.
Sylvia Youngson brings over 20 years of Professional Ballet Training, Dance, Theater and Performing Experience to you! She will instruct a fun, yet vigorous “Ballet-Fitness” Ballet/Barre Technique class for dancers and non-dancers alike. Make this a special valentine to yourself…to learn grace, poise, and to strengthen and lengthen your muscles. Wear comfortable clothing and socks or ballet slippers to this special freedanceXperience class just before the show!
After the danceXperience class, we move on over to the Merc to partake in a buffet of dance styles that will entertain and delight audiences. There will be performances by Majesty Dancers, Ana Sanchez, Paige Smith, Val Carnahan, Samantha Allen (Tap), Erica Myers-Russo (Salsa & Bachat), Raks el Anwar (Egyptian), Jessenia (Oriental), Jamila (Azerbijan Folklore), Elena Pankey (Russian Gypsy).
This lively and engaging dance showcase is presented every third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM and is open to all dancers and all dance forms. Interested artists should contact us at danceXchange.firstname.lastname@example.org to get on the program for March or April.
