The March edition of danceXchange will be an exciting combination of elegance, joy, and old fashioned sweat!  Co-Produced with Temecula Presents, Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California, is proud to host Benita Bike’s DanceArt at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater on Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 PM on the Merc stage.

“We have been looking forward to bringing Benita Bike’s DanceArt to our stage for over a year now,” admits Lori Craig Torok, curator of danceXchange, “She is in such demand that the scheduling just hasn’t worked out until now.”  Audiences will surely enjoy this top-notch company work in the up-close and personal setting of danceXchange.

Benita Bike studied dance with Virginia Robinson, Robert Christopher, Emmy Devine, Karen Levy, Ruth Currier, Utah Repertory Dance Theatre, Bennington College dance faculty and University of Arizona dance faculty.

Benita’s dance work has been shown in New England, New York, California, Arizona, Kentucky, France and Poland. Benita is a two-time ARC Grant recipient, a Massachusetts Artists Foundation Choreographic Fellowship recipient, and a former Artist-in-residence at Massachusetts College of Art. Benita was the Chair of the Boston Dance Alliance and a member of the Boston Cultural Corporation’s Curatorial Board. She also served on the Board of Los Angeles’ Dance Resource Center.

Benita taught dance at her DanceArt Studio in Boston, Boston Center for Adult Education, Angels Gate Cultural Center, and Whittier College. Benita was Co-producer of the Fountain Theatre’s annual Festival of Solos & Duets and Coordinator of the annual dance series at the Brand Library & Art Center, Glendale.

Local dance artists will share the stage with Benita Bike’s DanceArt, as this informal showcase provides opportunities for dancers and choreographers to share original work of all styles with a friendly, supportive and generous audience.  This month we will see work by Chad Ortiz, Rebecca Mishler & Majesty Dancers, Val Carnahan, and Kevin Nguyen, among others.

Just prior to danceXchange, Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California and Temecula Presents are offering a FREE community dance class from 6 – 6:50 PM in the Old Town Temecula Theater dance studio.
