The PGK Dance Project is a world-class contemporary dance company established in 1994 by Artistic/Executive Director Peter G. Kalivas between Munich, Germany and New York City, and San Diego-based since 2002. In residence at Culture Shock Dance Center of San Diego, the company is composed of multi-ethnic dancers performing the work of award-winning Artistic/Executive Director Peter G. Kalivas and a variety of choreographers of today.

Peter G. Kalivas, Founding Artistic Director of The PGK Dance Project has danced, choreographed, and taught worldwide for over 25 years. His choreography has been commissioned by both ballet and contemporary companies throughout the US and abroad and has been presented at major festivals worldwide.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Peter is a graduate of The University of the Arts (Dance and Music), and trained extensively at The Pennsylvania Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet and The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School where he was invited to join The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater second company. He was an original member of Sean Curran Company/NYC, member of The Iwanson Dance Company/Munich, co-choreographed “Kilt” Off-Broadway, was a member of Malashock Dance & Company and The San Diego Ballet, and appeared in and was rehearsal director for original productions at The San Diego Opera. He is a Fulbright Scholar in Dance Education, recipient of a “BRIO,” Panoply and Tommy Award, and has won many grants and fellowships to support his work. As a Cultural Envoy for the US State Dept. since 2001, he has directed projects representing American Dance in South and Central America, Africa, Australia, Eastern Europe and Asia.

In Temecula, Peter Kalivas was the founding producer of the original dance showcase platform, DanceMoves, which first introduced Temecula audiences to the now-familiar Third-Tuesday-of-Every-Month celebration of local and professional dance! How wonderful to bring back our Tuesday-night friend, Mr. Kalivas! Welcome to danceXchange PGK!

Hu-Mandala

Come to a free community dance experience class on Tuesday, October 21st at 6:00 PM to participate in Hu-Mandala (a human mandala/circle dance). This meditative movement experience, lead by Lori Torok, allows participants to reflect inwardly, while connecting outwardly, with those around them. We join in concentric circles and move, as one mind. People who experience this unique process are often amazed by the peaceful flow of energy created within the group. Come join our circle and Hu-Mandala with us! A FREE COMMUNITY DANCEXPERIENCE!
