danceXchange is an informal dance showcase, presented the third Tuesday of every month and co-produced by Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California and Temecula Presents
Alyssa Junious brings her exciting company, Continuum Dance Project, with an aesthetic that blends various dance styles, as she experiments with movement through improvisation. As a choreographer she strives to open the eyes of her audience to seeing the world through a different lens. As the guest artist for this month’s danceXchange, Continuum Dance Project will be presenting work from their season’s repertoire. This month Junious and her company will share new work alongside an outstanding lineup of community artists.

Alyssa Junious, Artistic Director of Continuum Dance Project, is a San Diego based professional dancer and choreographer. She’s trained in various dance styles: ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop. Alyssa’s aesthetic blends various dance styles and she experiments with movement through improvisation. As a choreographer she strives to open the eyes of her audience to seeing the world through a different lens.
Alyssa has a deep passion for the performing arts. As an artist her work is influenced by her varied training in dance, music and theatre. She received her B.F.A in Performance from the University of California Irvine, where she trained under living legend and world-renowned choreographer Donald McKayle in his Etude Ensemble. She was also a member of the collegiate hip hop team CADC and Entity Contemporary Dance Company.
Alyssa choreographs in San Diego County for dance teams, local studios and dance companies. In 2015, she won the “Audience Choice” award at San Diego Dance Theatre’s Young Choreographers Showcase.
Professionally Alyssa has danced for Disney, IsadoraNOW, Visionary Dance Theatre. and PGK Dance Project. While dancing for Disney she performed with Demi Lovato, Anika Noni Rose, and Cheryl Burke.
Aside from the performing arts Alyssa also has a passion for movement and fitness. Alyssa completed her 450hr teacher training at Studio Du Corps in Irvine, California under Diane Diefenderfer. Her certification program focused on classic mat and reformer work of the founder, Joseph Pilates, as well as the innovative work of Ron Fletcher. She is certified to teach various Pilates formats and apparatus’ (mat, reformer, cadillac, barrel, EXO chair, tower, and pedi pole). She also teaches cardio hop hop.
Currently she works with various local dance companies and teaches all around San Diego County.
This month’s danceXchange showcase is going to be diverse and exciting, and we are looking forward to kicking off 2019, dancing community together!
